As we approach 30 April 2020, or the 44th day of implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) for the entire Luzon, upon thorough consultations with medical experts and former Secretaries of Health, I have decided to approve the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF) to extend until 15 May 2020 the implementation of ECQ in high-risk areas in Luzon, including the National Capital Region (NCR), and place under ECQ other high-risk areas throughout the country. For low-risk areas in Luzon and some moderate-risk areas in Visayas and Mindanao, a General Community Quarantine (GCQ) shall be implemented, subject to further assessment. The pertinent guidelines for the implementation of GCQ shall be laid down this week.
