Benguet governor suspends small-scale mining amid bad weather.

Benguet Governor Nestor Fongwan on Sunday suspended small-scale mining activities in the province amid bad weather conditions brought by Severe Tropical Storm Egay (Linfa).

State-run Philippine Information Agency said the suspension will stay in effect “until further notice if weather warrants.”

Benguet is one of the areas under Storm Signal No. 1 as of 5 a.m.

Meanwhile, PIA reported the Baguio-Bontoc Road was still closed due to a roadslide at Km 0356+900, Aw-awigan section in Sabangan.

It said a privately owned pay-loader is mobilized for punch-through and clearing operation. All other road sections in the district are open to traffic, it said. —
